Subaru’s Intelligent EyeSight System with AI Technology
Subaru and AMD bring artificial intelligence support to the EyeSight security system with their SoC technology to be developed jointly.
Subaru Corporation announced that it has partnered with AMD, a manufacturer of adaptive and embedded computing technologies, to design circuits on a system that integrates the stereo camera detection processing of EyeSight Driver Assist Technology with AI inference. Through this collaboration, Subaru aims to further develop safety technologies toward the goal of “zero fatal traffic accidents by 2030.”
As part of the collaboration, circuits will be designed for an optimized SoC by developing the AMD Versal™ AI Edge Series Gen 2 adaptive SoC (System-on-Chip) technology. This new technology aims to achieve effective AI inference performance and ultra-low latency processing at a low cost.
With this optimized SoC, Subaru plans to enhance the detection and processing capabilities of the stereo camera it has developed over the years and integrate this new technology into the next-generation EyeSight system, which will be launched in the second half of the 2020s.
The Subaru EyeSight system, which offers advanced safety features such as adaptive cruise control and anti-collision braking, is standard equipment in all Forester and Crosstrek models available worldwide.
